The 11th annual Veterans Weekend will be Saturday, Sept. 8, and will include a Motorcycle/Motorcade honoring veterans at eight locations in DeKalb and Sycamore, ending at the DeKalb American Legion Post 66 for the dedication of a new flag retirement chamber. The event will go on rain or shine.
Staging will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Hy-Vee, 2700 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore.
The motorcade will head to several retirement homes, assisted living homes and nursing homes in DeKalb and Sycamore. A short 15-minute program will be held at each location. It will include the Pledge of Allegiance and the reading of names of senior veterans. The schedule follows:
Pine Acres Rehab & Living Center 10 a.m.

DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center 11:05 a.m.
Heritage Woods 11:35 a.m.
Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center 12:10 p.m.
Bethany Healthcare & Rehab Center 12:40 p.m.
Grand Victorian of Sycamore 1:15 p.m.
Lincolnshire Place 1:55 p.m.
The flag retirement chamber dedication is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at DeKalb American Legion Post 66. It is made possible by the efforts of Boy Scout Noah Larsen from DeKalb Troop 33, who is earning his Eagle Scout rank, and the DeKalb Sons of the American Legion who funded the project.
Motorcycles are encouraged but cars are welcome to join the motorcade.
