48th annual art show
this weekend in Sycamore
SYCAMORE - The Kishwaukee Valley Art League will host its 48th annual art show on the scenic courthouse lawn in Sycamore this weekend.
The art show will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The two-day juried show will feature 75 artists exhibiting fine arts and crafts in a variety of mediums including watercolor, oil painting, pencil sketching, fabric art, woodworking, pastels, photography, ceramics, gourd art, jewelry, fused glass, garden art and other three-dimensional media. KVAL members also will offer a group exhibit with all media.
For the first time, the art league will award ribbons and monetary awards to outstanding artists for Best of Show, Best Fine Art Painting, Best Fine Craft, and Best Fine Photography. Daniel Grych, of The Art Box Frame Shop and DeKalb Art Gallery, will judge the event.
KVAL's Art of Giving raffle is a popular part of the show, and attendees can win original pieces of artwork donated by KVAL members and other vendors. The proceeds from the raffle supports KVAL's philanthropy program. Each year, art students from local schools receive monetary awards and are invited to exhibit and sell their work at the art show.
Once again, the always-popular Illinois National Guard Brass Quartet will perform on Sunday.
Boy Scout Troop 33 will offer food and drinks at the show and Kool Kat Ice Cream will have cold treats for sale.
KVAL is committed to promoting local artists and dedicated to the development of upcoming artists in the Kishwaukee Valley area. Hy-Vee and Waste Management are patron members of the organization.
