Scouts help tend NIU Communiversity Garden

Boy Scout Troop 40, sponsored by St. Mary’s Church in Sycamore, and Boy Scout Troop 33, sponsored by First Lutheran in DeKalb, attended an event sponsored by the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity at Northern Illinois University.

The fraternity members and Boy Scouts worked together on a service project at the NIU Communiversity Garden, just east of Anderson Hall, which is part of a network of gardens with DeKalb County Community Gardens.

The project also helped the Scouts earn their Soil & Water Conservation merit badge.
