LIVING HISTORY WEEKEND - FREE
August 18-19, 2012.
Troop 33's Living History Event coming up on August 18th.
Lots of exciting things will be featured.
Interpretive historian Herb Heck will be bringing two authenic tipi's, a drum circle on Saturday night, mountain man encampment, Northern Illinois Outlaws will bring some cowboys, Chaplin Creek Mussleloaders display, George Tolliver, master carver, will be demonstrate wood working skills, Bad River Anishinabe Nation will discuss and demonstrate Native American culture, art, music and dance, feather wrapping, craft blanket, hatchet/knife display, and Native American games. It will be a weekend with lots of fun and educational activities.
All this will be taking place on Fairview Drive in Kiwanis Park during the opening day of the AYSO soccer season. It is open to the community and will be an opportunity for hundreds of youth and parents to experience some living history while learning and having fun. The event times are Saturday August 18th, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday August 19th, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Troop 33 will camp overnight on Saturday. We also operate our first AYSO concession stand of the season selling food and drink. The troop will provide Scouts with lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.
Scouts can come out just for parts of the day. They can stay overnight Saturday to Sunday. The campout is free of charge, the first of three free campouts for August/September.
